Guitar Red
Lightnin' In A Bottle
Back Space BSR-0108

Guitar Red as he is known in Decatur, Georgia is a street musician. His name on the credits of this CD is Billy Christian Walls. For years he has brought his guitar to the town square and busked for enjoyment and a little money. In his own way, Guitar Red is a bluesman.

Lightnin' In A Bottle is his first recording. Comprised of ten tracks, his use of imagery like trains, animals, God, whiskey and women, flow through each of his songs. His playing is good. If that were the complete story I would be heralding him as the next major blues find.

Blues tracks worth mentioning are "Three Legged Dog Blues", "Chain Gang Blues", "Ain't Got Nobody But Myself", "Decatur Boy Blues" and "Song About A Jimi Hendrix Song". A non-blues track called "I Believe," may be the most refreshing playing on the collection. There is a hidden track not listed on the CD, where Red riffs on himself and his beliefs.

The playing throughout is great; even impressive in areas. I know that it was probably the plan on this recording to make it rough sounding. It could have been so much better. I hope there is another chance for a folllow up recording. Keep playing that guitar, Guitar Red.
