Mike Morgan & The Crawl featuring Lee McBee
I Like The Way You Work It
(Black Top 1154)

There are some things in life that you just take for granted. The sun will rise in the east. The sky will be blue. The Dallas Mavericks won't be in the NBA playoffs. And when Mike Morgan issues a new CD, it will be good. Although only six months have elapsed since their last CD, Mike Morgan & The Crawl featuring Lee McBee have issued another winner with I Like The Way You Work It. This CD features 13 original tunes penned by either Mike Morgan or Lee McBee. The songs are mostly up-tempo and keep you bouncing in your chair. Mike Morgan has many opportunities to show off his ample guitar skills, yet stays restrained and brings out maximum feeling from each note. The mournful "I Wanna Know" shows Lee McBee's vocals keep getting grittier and better with time. "Martinis For Two" is a sophisticated jazz-tinged instrumental.

Dallas based guitarist Shawn Pittman makes a guest appearance on three of the tracks. Shawn and Mike complement each other nicely with neither one trying to out duel the other. Richard Ennis does a nice job taking over percussion duties from long time Crawl member Marc Wilson. As an added bonus Mike Morgan carries the vocals on "I Got My Eyes on You." Although Lee is in no danger of losing his lead vocalist job, Mike does a nicer job singing than do many people who try to sing for a living. Not many musical artists are prolific songwriters. Many prolific writers issue a lot of sub-par material. But Mike Morgan and Lee McBee continue to turn out fine, quality compositions. In closing, let me say to Mike and Lee, I Like the Way You Work It.
