Willie Willis
Can't Help But Have the Blues
(Fedora FCD5009)

The North Texas area is overflowing with an abundance of blues musicians toiling their craft in obscurity. One of the musicians that has been playing around the area for decades is Willie Willis. With his new CD, Can't Help But Have the Blues, Willie will hopefully become more well known to the blues public. The first song, "Willie's Back", is a personal celebration of having overcome medical problems and be back making a living again from the blues. "Willie's Blues" takes you into the heart and soul from where the blues feeling emerges from within Willie. There are six more original boogies and shuffles that give you a good feeling of the fun that one has catching Willie perform live. There is also a soulful cover of Albert King's "Laundromat Blues". Backed by a fine band featuring Wilford Sims on saxophone and Hash Brown on guitar this is a fine representation of Texas Blues that Willie Willis has established as uniquely his own.
