~ The Intro to "Lenny" ~

I had the chance to catch up with Zack and Josh Bramhall at the Eureka Springs Blues Festival, along with their Dad Doyle Bramhall. Fans of blues music are familiar with the Bramhall name but only the true aficionados of the genre know about the families best kept secret, the Bramhall Brothers. They are carrying on the blues in a sacred way, from the source and to the soul.

We had time to hang out and jam. It so happend that we were introduced to Gary Brinkley who helped to engineer custom guitars for Fender. He had worked on replica models of Claptons Blackie and Rory Gallaghers 1961 Tribute Stratocaster. He had a one of a kind replica of Stevie Ray Vaughan's "No 1", which he had customized down to the excact condition that Stevies's guitar was in with the tremolo hole filled in and the cigarette burns on the headstock. After hearing Josh warming up, Gary wanted him to play the guitar on his first set. Josh tweaked the guitar and then performed an incredible version of "Lenny", the soulfull instrumental from SRV's first album. The place was in awe. The crowd reaction was not only stunning to witness but awesome to see live as well.

"That song is a healing thing and very spiritual for me to play" said Josh. It's one of his favorite songs and he wanted me to share the tablature. No explanation needed, just take the time to feel it...
